Behaviorally-Oriented SLP 

Verbal Beginnings Center is seeking highly-motivated behaviorally-oriented Speech-Language Pathologists to join our team.  Verbal Beginnings Center (VBC) provides direct 1:1 services in a center-based program utilizing the teaching principles Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) to teach a wide range of learners of various ages.  VBC strongly believes in a team approach to guiding a child’s progress and development, incorporating the expertise of behaviorally oriented SLPs and OTs in conjunction with BCBAs (Board Certified Behavior Analyst). The SLPs at VBC are an integral part of each child’s team as they provide critical insight to speech, language, communication, and social development in our learners. VBC is seeking SLPs who have an interest in learning about and implementing BF Skinner’s analysis of language, or Verbal Behavior and implementing the basic principles of ABA. 

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Assessment of learner skills using criterion referenced assessments such as the ABLLs-R and VBMAPP
  • Assessment of a learner’s articulation using specific speech/articulation assessments and protocols
  • Speech, language, communication, and social goal development and implementation using the ABLLs-R and/or VBMAPP assessments
  • Writing evaluation/assessment reports
  • Implementing speech, language, communication, and social goals based on assessment results in 1:1 sessions
  • Training families and technicians on implementation of speech, language, communication, and social goals given effective teaching procedures
  • Consulting and coordinating with BCBAs and OTs ensure procedural integrity of speech, language, communication, and social goals as part of a learner’s overall program

 

Requirements:

•       Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university

•       Training in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) with an emphasis on Verbal Behavior (VB) preferred

•       Experience in working with persons with autism/related developmental disabilities preferred
